Review of 2018

2018 had some challenges with the dry summer with Copse lake having to be shut for nearly four months due to lack of water but the fish all survived and appear to have enjoyed the weather packing on the pounds, all up and running again now.Willow lake suffered a bit with low water but was fishable with reduced number of anglers, the Island lake held up well with only a small drop in water level. The carp have all put on a lot of weight last year with a new lake record of 46lb 4oz Charlotte but she had better keep growing as Clover 45lb, Black spot 44.10lb, & Sovereign at 41.8lb are catching up fast, there could be 5 forty's buy spring 2019. How long is Charlotte going to holed her place at the top ??
The blanket weed that covered Island lake in 2017 seems to have wiped out the Canadian weed this year so there has been less of a problem in landing fish, we have heavily chalked the lakes to improve the PH levels an improve the fish health.
In November we drained down Willow lake and netted the fish taking out the non growing and small carp and a lot of silvers, then restocking with some C4 from Priory fishery now aprox 150 carp in Willow, we then netted Island Lake to take out as many silvers as possible.
For 2019 we cannot take any more whole lake bookings for Island lake, but Willow and Copse are available so anyone who whishes to book for 2020 on Island don't leave it to late as we are restricting the number of bookings to one week and one weekend per month,
Why not have a fishing holiday at Furzebray discounted rates for the fishing please see our accommodation page but please check the availability of fishing before booking.
